TEAM NEWS

by Jerry Fairish, Pittsburgh Correspondent

(Sang to Bare Naked Ladies' "One Week")
It's been 7 games since you felt defeat,
7 games ago was the start of the streak

Thank you, thank you very much!

(Sang to the Beatles' "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band")
It was 7 games ago today...

I guess you get the point, the Pens are winning, and winning often I might add.

When Alexei Kovalev batted the puck past Canadiens' goalie Frederic Chabot Tuesday night at the Igloo, he not only kept the Penguins 7-game win streak alive, he symbolized the Penguins' play as of late; their ability to find ways to win games. Now I know you're saying, "Let's not make a big deal out of this, Jer. Remember the last time the Pens went on a streak? They lost after you made a big deal out of it!" Umm, well, yeah that's true, but who cares?

The Penguins now hold the longest active winning streak in the NHL after Theo Fleury and the Flames stopped the Avalanches' 12-game winning streak Tuesday. Despite winning the Pens aren't making up any ground. They still have a lock on third in the Atlantic, but can't make up ground on first place Philly and second place New Jersey. The Pens are 7 points behind Philly and only 3 behind the Devils, but finding it hard to pick up ground with both of those teams also winning.

Let's take a look at just how the Pens are doin' it...

Jaromir Jagr has amassed 18 points over the last 7 games, bringing his league leading point total to...77 points (24g, 53a) and a team-high +19. Since being moved up to Jagr's line, Kip miller has found the back of the net 7 times in 8 games. Skudra plays huge off the bench and wins the first four games of the streak, then Barrasso has played big allowing only 3 goals the last 3 games. Jerry Fairish is the coolest guy on the Earth.

All those points are my opinion as to why the Pens are winning, ALL OF THOSE POINTS!

Elsewhere... Regardless of what any other article you find in this issue says about where Michael Dell really is, the truth of the matter...I kicked his a** and now he's yella. That's right he's scared. I fixed him good and he's knows it. So if he's reading this...Thank you I need all the support I can get.
